klank.ist WIP

klank.ist WIP (Work-In-Progress) began in 2018 with the Nure Onna project by the duo Eda Er and Aslı Kobaner. After a long pause, the series has resumed with a renewed focus on the process of making — questioning the very idea of a “finished” or “complete” artwork.

What does it really mean for a work to be complete? How do multiple interpretations and the experiences of different audiences challenge the notion of finality? Rooted in these questions, klank.ist WIP explores the evolving nature of artistic production through its ongoing releases, starting with the debut single 1.5 in early 2020.

Operating through frameworks such as semi-structured improvisation, comprovisation, and open form, the duo embraces a fluid and reflexive process that values experience over outcome. Their method resists linear production models, instead moving between individual composition, pre-production, rehearsal, and collective creation in an organic and self-reflective way.

Whether working on a project already in progress or developing an idea from scratch, the core values remain the same: being together, asking questions, and having the courage to create. The project also plans to expand through collaborations with artists from different disciplines along the way.
