Sonic Cartographies Concert Series
Sonic Cartographies is a concept created by Eda Er, mapping a network of sound across distant geographies. It connects artistic practices, performances, and collaborations between cities around the globe — here linking the San Francisco Bay Area, Strasbourg, Berlin, and Istanbul. Each location becomes both a point on the map and a sonic node, carrying its own stories, histories, and resonances, yet intertwined through shared creative exchange.
In each city, the local curator — Aslı Kobaner (Istanbul), Max Abner (San Francisco Bay Area), and Merve Salgar (Strasbourg and Berlin) — shapes the program by forming duos, trios, or small ensembles from local and visiting artists. Every concert features the performance of a video score created by a Klank.ist member from one of the other connection cities, interpreted by musicians in the host city — a “cartographic mirror” that reflects and refracts artistic ideas across borders. In this way, every other month we sound together, resonating across continents, transforming distance into dialogue.
If you'd like to be part of our series, please email us at klankistcollective@gmail.com and include your city of interest in the subject line. We’re excited to connect with artists and collaborators across the globe!
