Founded in 2019, klank.ist ensemble is a female-identifying and minority-led collective that brings together composers and improvisers to explore collaborative modes of sound-making. With members from diverse cultural and musical backgrounds, the ensemble engages in a wide range of approaches — from free improvisation to hybrid processes like semi-structured improvisation, comprovisation, and open form composition.

Driven by a commitment to inclusivity, process-based creation, and horizontal collaboration, the ensemble fosters an environment where hierarchy is questioned, artistic boundaries are fluid, and interdisciplinary exchange is welcomed. While rooted in feminist and minority-centered perspectives, klank.ist ensemble remains open to all who share a spirit of curiosity, mutual respect, and radical openness.
